long time....no type hhhmmmm......whatosaywhatosaywhatosay......
well, kris and i are going to make that big jump over to ebay and start selling the extra stuff that we've had lying around for the last few years. we've both been in a 'lightening' sort of mood, where we both just look around and say 'my god! how did we accumulate so much CRAP!' some has gotten thrown out. some has been given away. some has been donated to the library. but SOME of it....especially the boxes of stuff left over from my old comic shop.....has been set aside to be seen again on the digital storefront of ebay.
speaking of ebay....i'm listening to a brazil/japan only release of sepultura's 'revolusongs', which is an album of them doing cover tunes (jane's addiction, utwo, public enemy, and devo just to name a few). added on at the end is an unmarked track of them doing a VERY hackneyed version of metallica's 'enter sandman' intro, which then blends into a brilliant opening of metallica's 'fight fire with fire'......the whole track is only a minute long, but a great extra. thanks to ebay for allowing me to purchase it legally for a reasonable price from a real person.
which leads me to something else....where does ebay fall into the whole 'corporate-whore' scene.
i mean, am i supposed to hate it for being a giant online form of 'big business', reducing everything around us to price-tagged merchandise to resell to unsuspecting idiots? or is it ok for me to see it as a place for average jacks & jills to buy/sell/trade together reasonably and fairly....all the while believing that the person on the other end is as honest and fair as the next guy?
well, i'm old enough that i don't care if my feelings and opinions don't fall within pre framed political/social cliques. i'll like what i like or hate what i hate because i do......not because some public schmuck/ette says i should feel one way or another......
might i mention that i never imagined sepultura could rock out on a devo tune before.....who woulda' thunk it......
AND NOW FOR A WORK UPDATE!
i'm still working at children's hospital boston, and i haven't had to kill any coworkers yet (although the fleeting desire has been there on a number of occasions). they're still the drama queens of the world, though. rarely does a day go by that something isn't blown TOTALLY OUT OF PROPORTION and made into some GREAT BIG ISSUE THAT SHOULDN'T MATTER IN THE FIRST PLACE!
they're almost two months overdue for giving me my review. i was offered a promotion, which adds on the responsibility of doing the floor's payroll.......but have yet to see the money that's intended to go along with that. i've already had another required t.b. test (which you have to get before any promotion or review) so i'm internally screaming any time now each morning, hoping that it will be the day that i can get it over with.
