Contagion
We are all diseased.
Well, it sure seems that way. Anyhow, I'm confined to my house the next few days to see if I develop a rash. I have come down with typical cold/flu symptoms which just so happen to be the same as... THE GERMAN MEASLES!!! (Cue dramatic music). I have my immunization records and most likely, I just have another wonderful sinus infection or some other wonderful bacteria. But, the Boston Health Commission has advised me to stay home and out of contact with other people until approximately 4 days after I first started having any symptoms (Tuesday night). The State will be contacted today and then will contact both me and my doctor to determine the next course of action. I would rather just be tested and get it over with, but since it's a nasty fucker, they don't want you to possibly infect anyone at a hospital and shut the place down, so they wait for the rash.
If that happens, it sounds like they dispatch a special unit to come and get you to test you in a controlled environment (I believe the nurse mentioned a negative pressure environment). Anyhow, Dany's birthday party is now in jeopardy as if I do have the measles, it will be cancelled and who knows what kinds of fun stuff she and Kelley will be in for. I'll post an update later whenever the hell I know anything useful.

UPDATE 6-23-06 10:41 AM
I just got off the phone with State Labs (located in my old stomping grounds near Forest Hills in Jamaica Plain) and they indicated that it is very remote that I have it. I'm actually already out of the long range of the incubation period. So far, no fever today and still no rash. They want me to at least hang until tomorrow afternoon to be on the safe side, which makes preparing for Dany's birthday a nightmare for me. The plan was to do more yard clean up and shopping yesterday and today and tomorrow. I'll bug Kelley to pick up my antibiotics today so I'll have them in my system 24 hours before possibly seeing anyone tomorrow. Unfortunately, whatever crap I do have, I may have passed on to my buddy @ work who's done the electrical work with me at the house. I'm going to call him and see how's he's doing if he answers the phone. I'd consider Sunday a go and if anything changes, I'll post here and call everyone as fast as I can.
Hey, at least all this nonsense got a new post up on the blog.

I hope you're okay bro, be safe , I got my fingers crossed for you.
I finally talked to my doctor a while ago and he thought they were being a little nutty. He said he'd see me in his office tomorrow, though they don't want me to leave the house. I'll stay in and hopefully feel a little better. Dayquil is doing a good job knocking the fever down and clearing my nose a bit. Hey, it's a great way to not go into work.
Well, I'd rather be jamming.
When were you exposed? We all saw you last Saturday, and some of us work in medical environments and with the public.
Hopefully you just have the flu...
be well!

Supposedly, you would all be "safe" as you're contagious from 4 days prior to starting a rash. I have no rash (and most likely, no measles) and it's been more than 4 days since I saw all of you. At least, that's what the BHC nurse told me. The majority of us all have had the MMR shots and should be immune anyhow.
I can't tell you how ridiculous my doctor thought this whole thing was. My potential exposure would have been somewhere between May 31st-June 2nd, which is on the very high side to just be coming down with it now.
Anyway, I need to get Kelley to pick up my z-pac from the pharmacy my doctor called in to get rid of this nasty. Just woke up and now my throat is just a bit raunchy, which is new. It's a bacteria party in my body right now.
bacteria party?
*snort*
love that! too funny!
Ok, quit your bitchin' and monin' and get to band practice you wuss.!!!!!
